The Observer MAGAZINE
Some of you may not know this about me, but since the age of 13 - 19, I was seriously into white water kayaking. So much so, that I would travel the UK entering and winning kayaking slalom races, and being the leading youth voice for my team in Sheffield. I still adore being in wild waters, be the older I get, the more I prefer to dip in for a swim, rather than trying out kayak rolls, cartwheels and nose dives!
So, it was an honour to collaborate with Surfers Against Sewage in 2022 (a huge fan since 2004), to back their work with Safer Seas & Rivers Service (SSRS), in helping share crucial information on whether our water is clean or polluted. This allows you to safely decide whether or not to risk swimming / surfing / enjoying nature! They have also just published new research which shows just how much the sewage scandal is affecting our water use.
We celebrated the launch of this, we create a 'Poo Watch' stunt on Jubilee Beach, and it’s a delight to have a feature in The Observer about this.
