Bloom Building
Youth Support Facilities, Liverpool
Bloom Building is a unique and forward-thinking concept that redefines the relationship between culture, community, social action, and mental health. By challenging conventional approaches and leveraging culture as a catalyst for change, Bloom Building cultivates social value and fosters well-being.
Molly Hawkins was commissioned to create a series of vibrant and energetic interior and exterior murals throughout the entire venue. In collaboration with artist Snock, Molly's artwork encapsulates the essence of Bloom Building, transforming it into an inviting and secure space for various facilities, workshops, and events.
Nestled within Bloom Building, the Open Door Centre offers a supportive environment for individuals aged 15- 30. The centre provides the "Bazaar - A Marketplace for the Mind" service, catering to those experiencing stress, anxiety, or feelings of sadness. Alongside mental health support, the centre hosts numerous activities in music and the arts, as well as unique training and volunteering opportunities.
Molly has partnered with Open Door Charity on multiple occasions to design artwork for their paper books available through the Bazaar service. She has additionally lent her artistic expertise to create eye-catching billboards and curate exhibitions that amplify the visual appeal and impact of Open Door Charity's initiatives.
Featuring large-scale, pattern-based murals, Molly Hawkins' artwork graces the walls of the Open Door Centre, employing the organisation's branding colours to establish a striking and energising ambiance. Her artwork contributes to the transformative nature of Bloom Building, creating an atmosphere that encourages connection, healing, and growth through art and community engagement.
With the recent acquisition of over £3.8 million in capital funding, including £174k pre-development funding from The Towns Fund, Bloom Building is poised for exciting new ventures. The funds will be utilized to cover early elements of project development, including the renovation of a building into Joy. Molly Hawkins will serve as the visual design consultant for Joy, overseeing all aspects of public art and interior design.
