Bristol Community Surface Artwork

I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be creating a new public artwork installation in St George's, Bristol this spring! We'll be bringing vibrant floor artworks to Beaufort Road parklet as part of an exciting initiative.

Building on the success of similar street transformations in Germany during the summer of 2024, I'm eager to see Bristol introduce a comparable art installation that will enliven our environments and promote a more environmentally friendly way of commuting and using our spaces.

I’ll be delivering a series of FREE workshops throughout February, where we’ll explore collage techniques to generate ideas and concepts for the upcoming artwork. Join us for a chance to contribute creatively to this transformative project!

BWIM.PULS: GERMANY, 2024

As I prepare for this upcoming project, I thought it would be nice to reflect on the joy we created in Germany through a co-designed art project involving primary school children. Over the course of a week, architects and artists came together to spark play, creativity, and curiosity in the town of Weil der Stadt.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS:

Join Molly Mural for a 2-hour, free, family friendly crafts workshop, as we explore themes of community for an upcoming public art installation in our local area. Molly will soon be transforming Beaufort Road parklet with vibrant floor paintings.

During the workshop you'll immerse yourself in art and creativity, using paper-cut collage to explore various shapes and motifs that will influence the design of the floor artwork. This is a wonderful opportunity to try out different materials and gain valuable insights into Molly's approach to designing for public spaces.

Embrace the chance to shape an artwork in your community, and connect and express your creativity as we play with a vibrant palette of colours, forms, and patterns.

The workshop is free and suitable for ages 7+

Spaces for the workshop are limited to 20 participants, so we recommend securing your spot by emailing hello@mollyhawkins.co.uk with the subject "Public Artwork Design Workshop". Please include your name, contact details, size of group, and any access requirements.

While you are welcome to turn up on the day, we cannot guarantee a spot if the workshop is already full.

Please note, all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop, with a maximum of two children per adult.

thank you!

We had a wonderful time drawing inspiration for the upcoming floor mural at Beaufort Road parklet! A huge thank you to everyone who joined these workshop sessions!

Below are a few snapshots of the fantastic collages created by the creative participants of these sessions.

Participants used a variety of colourful papers to generate numerous ideas for the artwork. Themes included community members, direction, home, popular local firework displays, and the natural surroundings of St George's Park. The inspiration was evident as we created bold and vibrant artworks while gazing at the trees and plants outside the window.

I'm thrilled to be at the joyful and exciting stage of working from the studio to develop all these wonderful ideas into a mural design!
