Queer Space Residency

In a chilly week of February 2022, nestled in the ‘Desperate Men’ drama studio of Easton, Bristol, a group of queer artists gathered to delve into the theme of ‘Queer Love Stories’. This period was rich with sharing, creating, imagining, and learning. We nurtured a safe space that fostered vulnerability and connection…

The talented artists involved were @mal.keg, @aishaaliartist, @mollymural, @emilejclarke, @meganvaughanthomas, and @ellieshowering. Inspired by our experiences, Queer Space now plans to launch a series of community arts projects.

Throughout that week, I dedicated time to developing artistic responses through drawings, paintings, and sketches, reflecting on the conversations, phrases, and poems shared. One phrase that particularly resonated with me was ‘sexuality as wide as the sea,’ inspired by Derek Jarman.
